As an elopement photographer, I get to be part of some pretty amazing moments, and Tim and Kristen’s surprise proposal in Glacier National Park was one of them! The forecast all week was calling for rainstorms, but we had no other option than to stick with our original plan because Tim and Kristen were only in town for a few days. I packed up my rain jacket, headed up to Big Bend and hoped for the best. When I arrived, the rain had cleared, the sun was perfectly diffused behind the mountains, and the wildflowers were blooming everyone around us! Honestly, it felt like something out of a dream and I couldn’t have asked for a better turnout with the weather!
Tim and Kristen were visiting from Utah and were spending the week exploring the park. Tim’s a hobby photographer, so he told Kristen they should drive up to Big Bend one more time to get some great shots at sunset. Little did she know, there was more on the agenda than some landscape photos 🙂
With there being absolutely zero cell service in Glacier National Park, Tim and I had to make sure we had our plan down to a tee prior to that evening. We decided that I’d be hanging out by the big rock at Big Bend, pretending to take photos of the scenery. Tim would spot me, walk down to where I am (“casually), then he would ask me to snap a quick photo on his cell phone. From there, I would take the photos, step back, then Tim would get down on one knee and propose!
I was SO nervous! We had communicated every last detail to one another: what we were wearing, what we looked like, what car we would be driving, but it was still so nerve wracking! To my relief, everything went perfectly. The sunset was absolutely stunning, and Kristen was so surprised! We spent the next hour or so taking photos in the area.. I loooove doing a little couples session after proposals because emotions are high and the photos turn out so sweet!
Oh, and the cherry on top? They saw a moose on their way up to Big Bend. I think it was a good luck sign!
If you’re thinking about popping the question or eloping in Glacier National Park, do it. The wildflowers, wildlife, and jaw-dropping views make it such a perfect spot that just can’t be beat.
