This Somers Beach family session is one that I’m so excited to share! The Bridwells were one of the very first families we met after moving to Montana! Olivia and I clicked instantly and formed a fast friendship from there, so I was so excited when I finally got to photograph their precious family last Fall! It’s always such a joy for me to photograph friends—there’s a sense of ease and familiarity that makes the session feel so relaxed and special.
We chose Somers Beach for their session, a spot I had been dying to shoot at all summer. And let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint! The golden hues of fall leaves, the clear blue skies, and the perfect golden sunset…it was all so dreamy and magical and created the perfect backdrop for their family session.
We wrapped up the session just as the sun dipped below the horizon, right as blue hour began. While we were loading up the cars and chatting about life, I happened to glance over and saw the most breathtaking colors against the mountains. Pink and purple painted the sky and the moon was even peeking out to make an appearance! I knew we still had just enough light to take a few more photos with this stunning backdrop, so I of course made the Bridwells walk back over for just a few more photos! I’m so glad I did because those impromptu blue-hour shots turned out to be some of my absolute favorites from the entire session. The soft, dreamy light against the dramatic landscape was just so magical.
Whether it’s capturing a family’s love or documenting an adventurous elopement, I feel so lucky to preserve memories in such beautiful places, like this family session at Somers Beach. It’s more than photography; it’s storytelling in its purest form, and I’m so grateful to call this my work.
