I am so excited to share Margaret and Jon’s Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club wedding! Margaret and Jon chose Aurora for their wedding because it’s where Jon and his family have spent years vacationing, which made it extra special for them! They came down from New York City to spend the week in beautiful Anguilla for their destination wedding week.
I photographed a wedding in Anguilla a few years ago (you can see it here!), so it was really fun to be back on the island. Anguilla is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been! It’s private, has stunning beaches, and the people are just so insanely kind! I truly feel so safe on the island. This time, I brought my husband along and we turned it into a quick escape from winter. I think I could get used to escaping the Montana winter for a tropical wedding weekend!
Welcome Dinner at Blanchard’s Beach Shack
The weekend started with a welcome dinner at Blanchard’s Beach Shack. It’s right on the beach and has a fun, casual, colorful island feel that really encapsulates the culture of Anguilla. Margaret, Jon and their closest friends and family spent the evening celebrating on the beach with drinks, dinner, toasts and fun while the sun set behind the ocean.

A Windy Wedding Day at Aurora Anguilla
Margaret and Jon’s wedding day at Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club was sunny, hot, and veryyyyy windy! We were fighting with the wind most of the day, but honestly, it added a lot of life to the photos! And better to have a breeze than hot blazing sun all day.
Margaret got ready in her suite with her girlfriends, while Jon took a quick trip to the waterpark (yes, Aurora has a WATERPARK, and yes, Jon was at the waterpark on his wedding day haha!) with his guys! They didn’t have a traditional bridal party, but still spent the day with their closest friends. After they were ready, we found a hidden spot for their first look to shield us from the wind before venturing out around the property for more portraits and family photos!
Right before the ceremony, a quick rain shower rolled through. Thankfully, it passed quickly and the Aurora staff worked quickly to wipe down all of the chairs for guests! We were so thankful we waited to start the ceremony!
As Margaret walked down the aisle, a rainbow appeared over the ocean behind them. It was subtle at first and then fully visible during the ceremony. It was unreal! Truly felt like a scene from a movie!
After the ceremony, we went down to the beach for portraits. The wind had calmed slightly, and the light was soft and even. Margaret put on a Mantilla veil for some photos and it had my jaw on the floor! Absolutely breathtaking!
Dinner at Chef’s Table
The reception was held at Chef’s Table on the other side of the resort. Guests shuttled over for an evening of dinner, dancing and fun!
An Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club wedding offers incredible scenery such as turquoise water, white sand, and stunning white architecture. It’s also an amazing place for a wedding because guests can easily all stay on property, keeping things convenient and easy! Margaret and Jon’s destination wedding was truly so spectacular (not to mention they are two of the most genuine people I’ve ever met) and I am so grateful for the opportunity to capture their day! If you are planning an Anguilla destination wedding and are looking for a photographer, I would love to chat with you here!
