This intimate Atlanta, Georgia backyard wedding is truly one of the dreamiest celebrations I’ve ever photographed! From stunning DIY details to a romantic garden party ambiance, this wedding was a perfect reflection of love and creativity.

A Love Story That Led to a Backyard Wedding in Atlanta, GA

I first met Ashleigh a few years ago during a bachelorette weekend for our mutual friend, and we instantly hit it off! A few months later, at our friend’s wedding, Ashleigh arrived with a new date—little did we know that he would become her husband just a couple of years later! After staying connected on social media, Ashleigh reached out to me last fall when Gavin proposed, asking if I would capture their wedding day. Of course, I was beyond thrilled!

Originally, they considered a destination wedding in Mexico, but coordinating the logistics became overwhelming. They wanted an intimate, relaxed wedding focused on their love, so they opted for a beautiful backyard wedding in Atlanta, GA, instead.

A Dreamy Garden Wedding at a Family Home

Gavin’s parents’ home in Canton, just outside of Atlanta, was the perfect setting for their garden-style wedding in early March. They exchanged vows in front of the cutest greenhouse, with the golden sunset creating a magical backdrop. The intimate setting allowed them to be surrounded by their closest family and friends, making the day even more meaningful.

This wedding wasn’t just about Ashleigh and Gavin—it was about blending their families into one. Ashleigh walked down the aisle with her daughter, while Gavin did the same with his two daughters. The little details to include their girls, like a first look with them, was so precious and heartfelt. It was truly a celebration of love, unity, and new beginnings.

DIY Magic: A Personal Touch to Their Atlanta Backyard Wedding

Ashleigh’s DIY skills made this wedding even more special. She designed and created almost everything— wedding décor, florals, and even her makeup! Believe it or not, she had never arranged florals before, but she absolutely nailed it. Her mom, mother-in-law, and Gavin also played essential roles in bringing her vision to life. 

And that breathtaking bridal cape? Yes, Ashleigh made that too! When Ashleigh went dress shopping, she was looking for something a little more sleek, but the Tara Lauren dress from Lovely Bride Atlanta she tried on ended up stealing the show!“When I tried on the Tara Lauren I got goose bumps,” Ashleigh says. “I just felt like ME walking out of the dressing room in it.”

The couple also incorporated thoughtful touches to make their guests feel extra special, including the cutest bar  from Tippy Tap and a charming outdoor lounge area that created a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Every little detail was thought out and executed so well! I am obsessed with the vision that Ashleigh had for her day.

Every single detail of this backyard wedding in Atlanta, GA, was thoughtfully planned, making the day feel like a beautiful, love-filled garden party. As Ashleigh put it, “We wanted it to feel like a sweet party with our closest people celebrating our love,” and they truly achieved that.
