Lexi + Taylor

When Lexi reached out to me on Instagram last winter about booking a western inspired maternity session in Atlanta, Georgia—with horses!—I knew I had to make it happen. I didn’t have any plans to be back in Atlanta anytime soon, but after she sent me her inspiration, I couldn’t resist! Her vision was so unique for a maternity session, and I was dying to bring it to life.

I decided to make it happen, so I set up a weekend of mini sessions and other shoots in Atlanta for March and started planning the dream maternity session Lexi had envisioned!

Lexi and her husband, Taylor, both volunteer at a horse rescue center called “Save the Horses”, which made it the perfect location for their session. You can check out more about this amazing organization here! Lexi and Taylor arranged all the details and got approval to use the property and the horses for their photos. Everything was falling into place—except for the weather forecast. That weekend was supposed to bring heavy rain, but somehow, we lucked out with a gorgeous, sunny spring day and the most stunning sunset!

Working with horses in a photoshoot is always unpredictable. They don’t exactly follow posing directions like “stand here and look at the camera” 😉 —but that’s what made this session so fun! We took our time, letting the horses do their thing, and in the end, we created some truly magical images. 

After capturing some incredible shots with the horses, we spent the rest of the session wandering around the property for a few more maternity portraits. Lexi and Taylor were an absolute dream to photograph—so natural, easygoing, and completely open to my creative ideas.

This western inspired maternity session will forever be one of my favorites. From the stunning location to the golden sunset and, of course, the beautiful connection between Lexi, Taylor, and their soon-to-arrive little one—it was 100% worth the trip back to Atlanta!
