To say I am excited to share this going to the sun road proposal is an understatement! Katie and Eddie are two of the sweetest people, and this evening in Glacier National Park was such a special one to be part of.
Eddie first reached out to me last Spring about photographing his proposal to Katie! We picked a date and began planning all the details. Then, just a few weeks later, Katie inquired with me too! I now know that she was hoping she’d be engaged by the time of their Glacier trip so she could book engagement photos. I immediately let Eddie know, just in case she was reaching out to other photographers too. It was so funny! AND they had both found me completely independently. Fate? I think so 😉
From there, Eddie and I carefully planned every detail of this going to the sun road proposal. We chose the iconic Big Bend as the location (check out this Big Bend proposal HERE), which is one of the my favorite spots in the park! Because there’s no cell service in the park, we coordinated everything ahead of time: what we’d be wearing, what we’d be driving, and exactly where we’d be. My plan was to blend in as a tourist (which isn’t hard at Big Bend!). But I was still little nervous since Katie had already reached out to me! I was slightly nervous she might recognize me!
When Eddie and Katie arrived, Eddie led Katie to the exact spot we had planned, and I stayed back, pretending to take photos of the scenery. The second I saw Katie’s start crying, I knew it was happening. I quickly moved into position and captured the proposal!
And let me tell you… this was one of the most emotional proposals I have ever witnessed.

I could FEEL their emotion and love for one another from behind the camera without even knowing them! The emotion was so strong, I started crying too!!! Katie was just overwhelmed with joy and kept thanking Jesus under her breath the entire time. It was absolutely beautiful.
Afterward, I introduced myself (still wiping tears from my face, haha), and we spent the next hour exploring Going-to-the-Sun Road for portraits. During that time, I got to hear about their incredible love story and how the Lord brought them together. The entire session, Katie would randomly start crying again, or would gasp at her ring. I’m telling you, she is an angel!
This going to the sun road proposal was such an incredible reminder of why I love what I do. Capturing moments like this is the greatest honor.! I left feeling like I had made two new friends, and I’m so grateful I got to be a small part of their story.
